Dr. Deutch is a nationally renowned and published breast imager with more than two decades of breast imaging experience. Beth is among the most qualified breast imaging specialists in the region, having interpreted over 200,000 mammograms and having performed thousands of imaging-guided needle breast biopsies. In fact, she was the first radiologist in New Jersey certified to read digital mammography and credentialed in stereotactic and ultrasound-guided needle breast biopsy. Dr. Deutch was also the first physician in Monmouth County to implement a comprehensive screening ultrasound program for women with dense breasts, as well as the first in Monmouth and Ocean Counties to provide Breast Specific Gamma Imaging. She has been a mammography reviewer for the American College of Radiology in credentialing new mammography facilities and units. In 2008 Beth was selected as the Top Women's Imaging Specialist by Medical Imaging Magazine and received the Best Practice of the Year Award by Physicians Practice Magazine.
Before pursuing her professional dream of starting HerSpace, Dr. Deutch spent eight years as Director of Breast Imaging and Medical Director of the Wilentz Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center. She came to Monmouth County from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where, as an assistant attending radiologist, she started the world-famous cancer hospitals breast MRI program and helped pioneer stereotactic breast biopsy. Dr. Deutch completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowship in Breast Imaging at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She is a graduate of Brown University and The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Beths busy professional life is happily grounded by three children—Simon, Noah and Charlotte—and husband, Larry.

Lori Gormley MD

Dr. Lori Gormley is one of the foremost, Board-Certified, Breast Radiologists in the State of New Jersey. She has, since 1988, been at the forefront of Women's Imaging, having worked in both hospital-based and outpatient environments. She has lectured and published on numerous topics including digital mammography, breast biopsy, and numerous patient oriented education programs. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Chemistry from Barnard College at Columbia University and received her medical degree from the University of Chicago (Pritzker School of Medicine), where she was awarded both the American Medical Women's Citation for Academic Achievement, and membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Gormley completed both her Diagnostic Radiology Residency and specialty Fellowship at the University of California, Los Angeles at the prestigious UCLA Medical Center. Her combined Mammography/Ultrasound Fellowship was the first ever offered in the United States.
From 1988 to 1991, Dr. Gormley was an attending Radiologist and Breast Imager at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston, NJ. In 1991, as Medical Director and President of Cranford Diagnostic Imaging, she operated and grew this successful outpatient multimodality imaging center and pioneered the concept of a "service-oriented" breast imaging practice. Between 2000 and 2011 she has held positions as a Dedicated Breast Radiologist at several prestigious New Jersey hospitals including Morristown Memorial hospital and the Breast Center at St. Barnabas Outpatient Center in Livingston.
Lori is a native of Westfield, New Jersey and is now living locally with her husband Erik. They love having any of their five adult children home for visits and also enjoy time spent together and with friends. Lori is an avid reader and has recently taken up knitting as a new hobby.

Laurie Jeffers, MSN, FNP
Nurse Practitioner, Genetic Educator

Laurie Jeffers, MSN, FNP is a board certified Nurse Practitioner specializing in women's health. She has received advanced training in genetic education and testing and is a local speaker on many issues related to all aspects of women's health. Laurie provides HerSpace patients with clinical breast exams and genetic counseling. An undergraduate of Duke University, Laurie also holds master's degrees from the University of Maryland and Monmouth University. Laurie is passionate about preventive healthcare for women and believes that "knowledge is power". She is committed to helping high-risk women make informed decisions about their long term health and well being. Laurie has a private practice in Little Silver, NJ. She lives locally with her husband and two school age sons. In her free time, Laurie enjoys traveling, kayaking and exercising.

Sue Williams R.T. (R) (M)

Sue Williams has been an experienced and compassionate mammography/radiology technologist since 1982. She has been devoted to Dr. Deutch since 1994. Before joining the expert team at HerSpace, Sue dedicated 20 years at Monmouth Medical Center; eight of those years were spent as the Chief Mammography Technologist at the Wilentz Breast Center. While there, Sue implemented the American College of Radiology's first Stereotactic Quality Assurance program and was one of the first technologists in the state of New Jersey to become certified to operate and perform quality control for full field digital mammography. She continues to play an important role with annual MQSA inspections, along with the accreditation processes for the mammography and stereotactic programs.
As a woman who lost her mother to breast cancer, Sue's passion, commitment and education make her an important player in the team for early breast cancer detection. Her interests include music, gardening, crafts and travel. She enjoys sharing life's simple pleasures with her husband, Ronnie, and family.

Lorna Vaughan
Practice Manager

Lorna joined HerSpace at its inception in 2002 after being employed as a Practice Administrator for Meridian Health Systems. She has considerable experience in the start-up and management of medical practices devoted to women's healthcare and is a member of the Radiology Business Management Association. She also brings to HerSpace an impressive background in both health information management and sales. After acquiring a BS degree in Medical Records Science from Northeastern University in Boston, Lorna served as the Director of Medical Records at a 300 bed teaching hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Having operated her own direct sales entity, Lorna is both comfortable in and committed to customer service. She is willing to spend the time and effort to make every patient's visit to HerSpace as time-efficient and hassle-free as possible. Lorna is a strong proponent of the value of expert, personalized and compassionate medical care for women. "I have found my ultimate position here at HerSpace."
Lorna is a native of New Jersey. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, Mah Jongg and especially going to the beach.

Michele Blewitt, RDMS
Technologist

Michele has been in the ultrasound field for over 20 years, having graduated from Ultrasound Diagnostic School in 1989, and has been registered by the ARDMS since 1996. Michele was born and raised in central NJ, and spent the first 2 years of her career working in central Florida before moving back to NJ.
From 1998-2008 she held approximately 50 assignments throughout the U.S. as a contract travel sonographer, allowing her the opportunity to acquaint herself with many interesting areas of the United States. At HerSpace, Michele performs both targeted and whole breast screening ultrasound, and assists with ultrasound guided biopsies. Her responsibilities also include quality control for the ultrasound equipment, and maintaining records for the screening ultrasound program.
Michele's pets include her Shih Tzu, Sparky, Dobie mix Lila, and her tabby cat, Kimber. Her spare time is spent with friends/family and her interests include photography, scrapbooking, reading and travel.

Patti Donovan, R.T. (R) (M)

Patti Donovan is a warm and caring mammography technologist. Patti started her professional career in 1983 at the Staten Island University Hospital. For 12 years she served as Supervisor of the Women's Diagnostic Center. After relocating to New Jersey, Patti worked at the Jacqueline Wilentz Breast Center with Dr. Deutch. Patti proudly followed the team to HerSpace in 2002. Her skills include film screen and full field digital screening and diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound and breast interventional procedures, including ultrasound and stereotactic needle biopsies.
Patti currently lives in Middletown with her husband, Dennis. They have three children: Billy, Jimmy and Meagan. In her free time she enjoys reading, gardening, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.

Bernadette London

Bernadette London is a native North Carolinian and gained most of her advanced education from Beaufort County Community College. Her career in the medical field started at an early age while helping to care for her elderly grandmothers who lived to be over 100 years old. She has been working in the medical field for over 22 years as a medical assistant and has held several clerical positions. Upon moving to New York, she started working in a cardiology office where she held various positions. Later, Bernie was employed at Lenox Hill Hospital Radiology Associates, Westside Radiology Associates and St. Luke's/Roosevelt Medical Center Radiology Dept. as a receptionist/secretary and supervisor of clerical staffing. She relocated to New Jersey after getting married in 2005 and states that she "proudly joined HerSpace." She says that "I am pleased to be a committed team player". With such compassion for people, her physical and spiritual interest is dedicated to customer care and helping others. Bernie's quality time and devotion is to her husband, Carlose, their son Jaylen and her family.

Barbara (BJ) Thorne R.T. (R) (M)

BJ is a long time resident of the central Jersey area. She has been a radiology technologist for over 30 years, having specialized in mammography since 1988. BJ has worked alongside Dr. Deutch since the inception of the Jacqueline Wilentz Breast Center in 1994. There, she implemented the Quality Assurance program for the facility and became one of the first technologists to be certified by the FDA in quality assurance for full field digital mammography. BJ approaches her work and patients with humility and compassion; she is a team player who is always willing to help others, whether work-related or with outside endeavors. On off hours, she loves to spend time at church, and with family and friends.
