MONICA DENISSE HURVITZ, MD, MBA

Dr. Hurvitz, originally from Argentina, has practiced radiology for 24 years and has been dedicated to breast health in the United States for the last 15 years.
She specializes in breast-imaging and intervention, is board certified by the American Board of Radiology, MQSA certified in mammography, and FDA certified in 3-D tomosynthesis.
Dr. Hurvitz received her bachelor’s degree in 1985 from the National College, Bahia Blanca City, and her MD degree in 1991 from the University of La Plata School of Medicine; both are in Argentina. She completed her radiology residency in 1996 at the Jose de San Martin General Hospital in La Plata and continued her training with fellowships in vascular radiology at Centre Cardiologique du Nord in Paris, France. In 1998, Dr. Hurvitz was the recipient of a grant from the SILAN (Ibero American Society of Neuroradiology) doing a fellowship in interventional neuroradiology.
During her academic career, she was appointed associate professor of radiology at the Louisiana State University Health Science Center Department of Radiology in Shreveport, LA, from 2002 to 2006. She also was director of the Breast-Imaging Section of the same institution from 2003 to 2006.
In 2008, after relocating to New York, she served as medical director at the Breast-Imaging Center of Excellence at Staten Island University Hospital.
Dr. Hurvitz is the co-author of nine publications, 23 abstracts, two book chapters and a web publication. She has shared her expertise in 49 lectures and 15 scientific exhibits around the world.
Dr. Hurvitz also earned, in 2012, a Global Executive MBA degree granted jointly by NYU Stern School of Business and the London School of Economics, and HEC Paris, France.
In 2013, Dr. Hurvitz founded MDH Radiology to bridge the access gap of underserved populations to critical breast-imaging screening and diagnostic services.
Dr. Hurvitz also is an active advocate and educator for women’s health and involved in not-for-profit breast-imaging projects around the globe. She also is a member of the board of directors of Radiologists Without Borders.
In 2016, Dr. Hurvitz was accepted into the prestigious Integrative Medicine fellowship with Dr. Andrew Weil, worldwide recognized pioneer and author of 11 books on preventive medicine and holistic wellness (2018 expected graduation).
